The countdown to the annual autumn highlight for technology fans is on. On September 12, Apple invited people to its traditional event, where the new iPhone is usually presented. As always, there is no official information in advance, but insiders in the rumour mill have already gathered quite a few details about the iPhone 15:
Four models are expected again: the iPhone 15, a Plus, a Pro, and the luxury version of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The sizes are not likely to change compared to the predecessor iPhone 14; the display dimensions are 6.1 and 6.7 inches, respectively.
The design remains essentially the same as the 14. However, the higher-end Pro models are said to have a titanium frame (previously stainless steel). This will make the devices lighter and even more durable.
There is no need for a separate Apple charging cable
Probably the most noticeable change concerns the connection for the charging cable: According to insiders from the portal MacRumors, the iPhone 15 comes with a USB-C socket. Apple’s Lightning connector and the need for a special charging cable for the iPhone would thus be history. So, in the future, you can borrow a line from an Android smartphone user to charge the iPhone. The US tech giant is, therefore, likely to complete the switch to USB even before the EU prescribes standardized cables for cell phones in Europe from the end of 2024.
New colour for base models: Barbie pink!
* Further upgraded, as every year, are the cameras. The standard 15 and 15 Plus models also get a 48 MP primary camera. The iPhone 15 Pro Max luxury device is likely revolutionary: The camera is equipped with a periscope lens for powerful zoom.
* iPhone 15 users will probably have to get used to muting the device: The traditional toggle switch on the side will disappear, and the silent mode will be activated by a virtual action button in the future.
* There is much speculation about the colours of the new iPhones. According to reports, there will no longer be a gold variant. * * The primary 15 and 15 Plus models will come in black, green, blue, yellow and – attention, Barbie alert! – Pink. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be available in dark blue, silver, black and gray.
* Regarding the prices for the iPhone 15, rumours about a new price increase for the Pro models are growing. There is talk of up to 1,600 Euros for the most miniature version of the iPhone 15 Pro Max (the predecessor 14 Pro Max was available for 1,449 Euros). If there is no increase for the base model iPhone 15, it could cost 999 euros like the 14.
* When will the iPhone 15 be available? Pre-orders may start on the Friday after the presentation, September 15. The first devices could then be delivered as early as September 22.
